    • With Distinction

    First of all, Hard mode is locked until you finish the game once.

    When you beat the game, Special mode will also be unlocked (and there is another achievement finishing the game on this mode) so you might as well do both at once, once you beat the game, start a Special Hard mode run.

    Now, Hard mode will remove around 7 save cds and most of the ammo and first aid kits, monsters will also have more hp and will deal more damage but dont worry.

    Special mode will give two weapons, a special melee bat at the beginning of the game and the laser gun when you finish the Classrooms Area (Headmaster's Office in the safe behind the map).

    The melee weapon is as strong as a gun but since its melee, its dangerous to move closer to enemies but the laser gun.. oh boy, I did my entire hard mode run with this gun alone. Its a rechargeable Laser and its used like a flashlight, it kills small monsters almost instantly and also deals great damage to the others too, the downside is that it overheats very quickly and you might find yourself panicked running around evading attacks while it cools down...

    BUT!

    There is an awesome trick to get around this in most situations, you see.. monsters HP does not regenerate when you exit the room and then come back.. do you know what this means? yes! You can use your laser, shave off some of the enemy's HP, get out of the room, wait for the laser to cool down, re-enter and do this until the monster is dead.

    At the end of my run, I had 7 first aid kits, and 100 ammo of both shotgun and pistol since I barely used them because I kept using the trick above.

    Needless to say, there are some ambushes where you cannot escape the room and in these situations I did use the normal guns and even some light grenades.

    As for boosting flashlight to dispell darkness, I really didnt care, the laser took care of most problems.

    Beware the cafeteria though, monsters respawn a lot and it was the toughest part of the game for me, learn how to do the switch puzzle and remember that you can just run around the big monster to get the fuses and run out of that room. Use a light grenade when ambushed by the mega mutants in the cage room and right before the end in the dark hallway.

    Thats my tips and I hope they help you out! You just need to survive until you get the laser gun and youre golden. Good luck!

    • Three with one blow

    Light grenades kill all monsters spawned in the room so with this in mind, just find a place where 3 monsters or more spawn and have at it!

    Just remember that tossing the grenade takes two seconds and two more seconds for it to explode, so be careful.

    Two of the most popular places to do this achievement is when you grab the last statue from the garden, 4 small monsters spawn plus a big bad mutant.

    The other place is right before the end where you get ambushed in a dark corridor by 3 big bad mutants, I suggest you use a light grenade here since they are the last monsters you face before the last boss and you get a free light grenade at the end of this hallway anyway (before arriving at the door)

    Alright, so before I started this game, I was really worried because I couldnt find any data on how to nail this achievement but as it turns out, people dont mention this one because its pretty straightforward. You start with 3 teens and recruit two more along the way, dont get them killed either by normal monsters, bosses or cutscenes and finish the game with all of them alive.

    As for Kenny, some people say you can lose him (he gets beaten by mutants) in the prologue and it will be ok, but I didnt want to chance it so I made sure he got to the stairs in the prologue instead of losing him to monster attacks.

    As for the cutscene place where they can die, the elevator in the theater is the biggest culprit, make sure you put the safety latch upstairs before going down the ladder.

    • Heavily armed

    This one unlocks before the final boss, not when you get the final weapon.

    The list below is based on a Normal run, Hard mode/Special mode shuffles some weapons around.

    Most weapons are pretty obvious to get but so you know, here we go:

    Baseball Bat: In the room you start in at school, after the prologue.

    Metal Bar: The teacher drops it in the attic after smashing the windows, you wont be able to get it later.

    Aluminum Bat: In the first floor of the classrooms, near the entrance by some lockers.

    Old Pistol: In the first floor of the classrooms, in the Janitor's closet.

    Pistol with a Light: You get this from the Headmaster's Safe.

    Shotgun: You can get several shotguns but the first one is in the Janitors Room before the security room, you can find the Janitor there.

    Automatic Pistol: You get this in the first room as you enter the cafeteria where you meet the ceiling monsters.

    Revolver: After going to the dorms, opening the safe and getting the library key, in the upper rooms of the library, its a very dark room.

    Two Barrel Shotgun: In the garden there is a shed, use a melee weapon in there to knock the shotgun from the roof into the shed.

    Light Grenade: You also get several of these, the first one is in the cell of the first super big bad mutant you encounter after grabbing the lever.

    Laser: This is a hidden weapon, you need to push a cage in the room where you find the photo of a student that became a mutant, its in a room past the ladder that goes up to the headmaster's library office.
