    The best place to grind kills in the game is the boss in stage 7-9. Just get to the boss and quickly take over the boss. Now you can shoot with the central part of the ship. There are 8 turrets around that respawn in 2 seconds after they're destroyed. Destroying those turrets counts towards the achievement - I tested it. Now, for the best part. The central part of the boss has unlimited ammo and turrets don't shoot you so you can't be destroyed. So you can stay here forever and just grind kills.
