For jumps to count you need at least some velocity. There's a nice spot near the beginning of Cobble where you can wedge yourself between rocks and continue jumping without moving.
Just after the initial platforms and in the opening of the main area, to the left off the main path, is a small cave you can navigate with some slopes that you can walk on. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n46N8Mj-ZLo for the position.
I used the Steam controller layout to toggle the jump button. If you crouch and move the mouse around a bit and hold A or D you can find a nice spot where you'll keep velocity without moving, then you can let go of A/D and just keep jump toggled.
If done right you can get 1mil jumps in around 30 mins of idling.

This requires an old version of the game to be installed. Old versions can be downloaded via the steam command line
download_depot <app_id> <depot_id> <manifest_id>
A manifest that works is [https://steamdb.info/depot/429781/history/?changeid=M:1557215148060610103](17 October 2017 - M:1557215148060610103)
Open the console via Win+R key, then entering
steam://open/console
Once in the command line use the commanddownload_depot 429780 429781 1557215148060610103
which will begin the download of the older version. It's around a 2GB download. Once the download is complete you'll have to navigate to the download path (shown in the console after it's complete), and then replace your games files with the newly downloaded files. Backup your old files just in case, but it's probably not necessary since your progress and settings are stored on the cloud.
More instructions for rolling back depots can be found here. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=889624474
