Easy to get once you progress far enough in the story and get unlock the lighting reel.

START OF BORING EXPLANTION
The lighting reel is a song that will instantly upgrade a plant and all plants of that same level that it is touching. If the field is filled with level 1 plants, it will turn all plants into level 2 plants. If the outer rim was filled with level 1 plants, the inter rim was filled with level 2 plants, and the center tile was level 1, and you use the lighting reel on the center tile, only that level 1 plant will level up to level 2. If you used the lighting reel on the out rim, it will turn all those level 1 plants into level 2 and the center tile will remain level 1. Only touching plants of the same level original level will level up, like electricity traveling thru a wire. Knowing this, I think you can see where this is going.

Start a game with the lighting reel.

For the first round, seed the field with level 1 plants.
The second round you should get a pattern with level 2 plants, if not, start a new game.
During the second rounds, use the lighting reel on one of the level 1 plants, if you are lucky, you should get the achievement. If not, restart and try again.

I got both the double and triple reward on the first try using this method.
